Configuring ERC-4337 Smart Accounts with Bounded Session Keys
Set up an enterprise-grade ERC-4337 Smart Account with fine-grained session key policies restricting autonomous bot spend, allowed contract targets, and expiration timestamps.
Prerequisites
- Understanding of Account Abstraction (ERC-4337)
- ZeroDev or Biconomy SDK access
- TypeScript development environment
Step 1: Install Kernel & ZeroDev SDK
Install the ZeroDev Kernel modular account abstraction packages.
Step 2: Generate Ephemeral Session Key & Define Permissions Policy
Create an ephemeral keypair for the agent and create a Session Key Validator with strict spending limits and contract whitelists.
Step 3: Execute Transactions Using the Restricted Session Key
The agent signs and submits UserOperations directly to the Bundler. If the agent attempts to interact with an unlisted contract or spend over 10 USDC, the Smart Account contract will reject the transaction on-chain.
Key Takeaway
Session keys provide mathematical guarantees that even in the worst-case scenario of complete agent compromise, attacker damages are strictly bounded by your pre-set policy.
